The Oxford Baby Quilt

This baby quilt is made from one pink and one white men's oxford shirt (purchased from the thrift store (of course) for about a buck each.) I included a pocket on one of the squares for a binky or baby toy. It turned out cute.

RIP, Spooky....

....we'll miss you.....
%%%%%%
Update: Sept.28
Thanks everyone for your kind words.....and yes, Mary, I'm glad she didn't fall out the window....only a cat of yours would do that! and mom, Bubba continues to be dumber then a box of rocks and doesn't seem to know Spooky is gone yet...altho Chuck blew up a pic of her on the computer and Bubba was looking at it couriously which was kinda funny. And sewcalgirl, I just know she's sitting in kitty heaven in a little slice of sunshine with her sweet paws resting on a colorful peice of fabric. Now that we finally made the decision to let her go, Chuck and I are actually a little releived...it was hard seeing her have such a rough go.

I heart Fall

Fall is my favorite time of the year. I love the cool temps and the air feels so crisp. We live close to the river and in a neighborhood filled with trees so we get awesome show when the leaves change colors.

Well, how domestic.

Normally a girl like me wouldn't be to happy to receive an iron as a gift (or silverware for that matter, girls.....and you know who you are;) but this one is so darn cute. I had been looking for a mini iron and Chuck found this one at the Goodwill. Not sure if I'll use it because it has a hard time staying upright (I don't want to burn the place down what with my ADCD and all) but it sure will look cute on display. I haven't plugged it in yet, but I bet it gets super hot unlike newer irons. I love the look of that old cord.
Thanks, Chuck!

Happy Birthday,Mom!!!!

These are some of my favorite pics of my mom. The first one was from a few years ago taken in Michigan. #2 is a pic of mom and her sister, Karen. #3 and #5 look like they were taken the same day. Mom looks so happy. Love, love, love #5...mom and her dollies. And how sweet is #4. Have a great day, mom! I love you!

Now thats just peachy!

One of my friends/co-worker/nurse at Home First is having her second baby soon. When she was about a minute pregnant, she called me and asked if I would attend her birth. I helped her have her first baby, so of course I would help her with her second. I'm so looking forward to it! Yesterday I found a box on my door step.Upon opening the box, I found it filled with huge peaches from Washington. Altho she hasn't had her baby yet....it still need to cook for another few months....I guess she figured she'd have her hands full after #2 arrives. Thanks, Colleen.....they're super yummy and juicy! I slobbered all over myself eating one today and plan to do the same tomorrow!

Marking up my quilt.....

.....was very scary.

***

I decided to try out the disappearing markers they sell for quilting. I wanted to try and make my sewing lines straighter. I was very nervous making the lines and I drew them very lightly. Then I got distracted by something else (ADCD*) for a few hours. I went back to sew the quilt I had lined and......the marker lines had disappeared! So, anyway, I drew them again a little darker and I am no longer scared.

The Evergreen Park House

I was on the south side last week helping a mom have her baby and decided to drive place the house I raised the boys in. It looks pretty much the same...a little less shabby then how we left it. I was happy to see all the flowers and greenery I planted in the front were still there.

....got her dogs back and she and the dogs couldn't be happier. I'm not sure if these are the ones she got back, but all four of them looked the same anyway....right Aim? I'm so happy for you, girl! (Amy has been through a really rough time the last few months and having her dogs back makes things just a little bit better.)

She's Baaaaaaaack!!!!!

Well, we thought maybe Spooky was doing a little worse last week because her fur was a mess and we had to clean her with wet towels at least twice a day. Then this morning she came into our room meowing pretty loud like she used to. Hmmm. Then, I went to look at her paws to clean her, but they didn't look bad. Hmmmm. Then she was following us all over the house meowing at Chuck to feed her. Again...Hmmmm. I said to Chuck," If I start seeing her groom herself again I'll know she might be on the mend." A few hours later Chuck brought her up to craft room and set her down."Go ahead, Spook, show her," he said. Spooky walked over to the only tiny patch of sunshine in the room, settled onto the edge of a peice of paper, (she likes to sit on the edge of stuff....weird) and BEGAN GROOMING HERSELF!!!! We haven't seen this is weeks! I'm so excited! She's still drooling a little , but I think the tooth that was plaguing her has fallen out. WooHoo...we missed you, Spooky-girl!

The CQ4S9P* Quilt

*The Crookedly Quilted 4-Square 9-Patch Quilt.

I can't sew straight...hence the name. This is a carseat baby blanket or a play mat or a kitty bed.

Soup

I've been under the weather the last few days. Nothing terrible....just headache and fatigue that WON'T GO AWAY!!!! Chuck thought it would be amusing to take pics of me in my PJ's eating soup...yeah, he's a real funny guy. On the plus side, he was being super sweet and did offer to make the soup for me. Hoping to feel better today.

Karen's Big (Country)Adventure

I drove down to Uncle Scott and Aunt Kath's this week. They lives in a cute little town about 2.5 hours south of me called Cissna Park. It's where the cows come home and where Jesus left his sandals;) Sarah and Cooper were also visiting and a grand time was had by all. Gramma Kathleen just adores her little sweetie, Cooper...she thinks he set the moon! (...he's so busy, he probably did!)
After an awesome homecooked breakfast...mmmmm pancakes.....auntie showed me her pride and joy...her long-arm guilting machine...I got to try it for a minute and.......I think I have to have one some day...its sssssoooooo cool.

Drive that baby, auntie!!

Then, of course, we had to had lunch at auntie's hangout, the DQ. Hamburgers, fries and sundaes, oh my! (This was to be my last indulgence for awhile as I started counting calories again on Thursday...wwwaaaahhhhhh)

Doesn't Sarah and her baby bump look great? Oh I just love a pregnant belly!

After lunch, we visited Prarieland Quilts....which was awesome...but I got lost in all the store's awesomeness and I forgot to take pics....sorry...next time. All in all a wonderful time was had and I look forward to visiting again.
