Baby Crafter

My cousin Sarah's 2 year old is well on his way to becoming a master crafter. Love the tongue sticking out. Check out Sarah's blog. She's done some amazing crafting herself....especially love the tent she made for Cooper.

Fabric Score from IKEA

So this was a major score in my book. We have an IKEA in Schaumburg here and someone on the internet had written about how they have 100% cotton white bed sheets for $4.50 (full size) that they like to use for quilting. Of course I had to check it out. I only bought one. I want to wash it and see how it comes out after being washed and dried. (I didn't think I needed to post a pic of the sheet ;) Anyway, I checked out their small fabric department and didn't see anything that appealed to me. Lots of large prints and heavier fabrics for curtains and upolstery. So, I decided to check out the baby section to see if they had any cute bedding for cheap over there...... and I found more fabric (see above). Nice quilting weight 100% cotton fabric sold in 3+ yard bundles of $8.99 each. They had about 10-15 different prints...of course, I wanted them all but I controlled myself and only bought 3 bundles. I liked how these 3 were all diferent but in the same color way. They had a few more prints to match these colors that I just might have to go back and get. (BTW....I know the last pic is kinda funky, but I liked how the morning sun was shining on my table.)

Happy Birthday, Jack!

Look who's 6!!! Happy birthday beautiful boy! I love you!

Star Wars Quilt

I made a Star Wars quilt for Jack for his birthday. Of course, I decided I wanted to make it 3 days ago thinking I'd have plenty of time. Well, the party was yesterday at 330p and I finished at around 215p. This quilt was made out of a set of sheets purchased from Walmart. I cut apart the flat sheet and the pillow case, added some fabric from my stash, and this is what the end result was. I'd planned on not cutting up the fitted sheet that came with the set so he could have that for his bed. I hope he likes it. He didn't have a lot of time to admire any of his gifts as presents from family and friends were flying at him left and right. Lucky, lucky boy! I'm going to go over and see him today and get some more pics. I 'wrote' his name in about 10 different places on the quilt so its kind of an I-spy quilt. I also wrote a little message on the border so that he would always know the force would be with him and that Auntie loves him very much! The writing and the quilting is a little shaky, but I love how it turned out.

Quilts For Kids

The last week or so (actually 9 days and a total of 24 sewing hours. I wrote down the time every time I sat down to work on this project...I don't know why...I'm weird.) has been dedicated to putting together the kits that Quilts for Kids sent me. Here's the rusults. I love how bright they are. These will be my 2 of 12 donations I plan to make this year.....1 per month. January and February.....Done!

Cats and dogs living together...oh my!

Bubba is still getting used to the idea.....

What the heck was that?!

7 lbs 2oz of pure joy! or I always wanted a little girl!!

Chuck and I decided that since we weren't going to have any little ones, we would adopt! Introducing.......

Sophie!!

Isn't she so darn cute!!We had been talking about getting a little doggy for awhile and had been tempted by some puppies at the mall this past weekend. Fortunatly, we came to our senses and didn't buy a ridiculously expensive (and probably a puppy-mill dog) mall dog but found Sophie at the Huntley 'no kill' shelter. She had only been there since Saturday. Her owner had to go into a nursing home and couldn't keep her anymore.

I love her! She's an older dog.....She's eleven, but is so sweet and very peppy. She slept next to me all night. I kept waking up to look at her and pet her. I'm totally smitten!
Oh, and Chuck loves her too! Bubba is not so sure yet. They're still getting to know each other. Lots of hissing and tail-fluffing (Bubba). Well, I'll probably be boring you with pics and cute stories the next couple weeks. I apologize ahead of time.

Happy February

My Dearest Chuck,
This is a heart block......not a stealth bomber block as you so cleverly (in your mind) suggested yesterday.
