I did this several months ago and I thought I posted it, but I couldn't find it on the blog when I was searching. So if you've seen it before...oh well here it is again. The sunflower is painted onto fabric I dyed . After the paint dried i then thread painted it. The cut out of the side of the flower was a happy accident ;) It's small, measuring 5 by 8 inches. I'm working on something much bigger....here's a sneak peak;)

I love it! I need to try this. Do you use muslin or just some basic cotton like Kona or a similar all-cotton broadcloth?
I've got a huge bolt of muslin to play with here...

The happy accident is great. Can't wait to see both of those in person tomorrow!!!!!!!!!! A whole day of crafting and sewing and girl talk and food .... and just one dog :)
