Thought for the day

Remember, when the world pushes you to your knees, you're in the perfect position to pray.

Good Bye old friend....

I've had you since the boy's were little. In the last 8 months I've asked you to work really hard....and you did....up until last week when you just couldn't turn it on anymore. Rest in peace, dear iron....you're off to the nearest landfill....so sorry. Oh, BTW, your cousin from Proctor Silex is working wonders!

Marine Comfort Quilt

Aunt Kath sent me the squares, backing and batting to put together this quilt for Chad Edmondson's family. Sadly, Chad, who was only 20 years old, was killed on May 27th in Iraq. I hope this quilt gives his loved ones a little peace. There were some really nice messages written on the quilt squares from different families around the country. Working on this quilt this past weekend really put our flooded basement into perspective......so we got some water.....big whoop. There are so many other terrible things going on in our world yet I am so incredibly blessed by all I have. Please keep Chad's family in your prayers as they must be suffering horribly.

Snuggi

Amy got dad one of those Snuggi's for Father's day. Aren't those things really just backward robes? I wish I would of thought of that! Anyway, he really liked it......he looks like a monk.

It's not right and its not fair!!!

Wise words from 3 year old Sydney, Henry's sister and twin. She usually says this as she is crying and having to do something she doesn't like to do or want to do. I said this today as I stood and cried on my driveway because there was a foot of water in our basement. It's not right and it's not fair! Smart kid.....sometimes it's not right and it certainly isn't fair.

Fruity Fabric Stash

Jennifer (Henry's mom) gave me this cute little shelf. It's perfect for all of my fruit fabric.

A-MA-ZING!!!!!

Here's the pinwheel quilt. I just need to bind it( and I have a brilliant idea of how I'm going to do that so stay tuned) I love it. I thought it was nice before it was quilted...now I'm so in love with it! It makes such a HUGE difference to have the quilting done. Aunt Kath did a great job. A million thank-yous, Auntie. (BTW, I'm sure she'd be for hire if you need any quilts quilted.)

Calico Creations

This is one of the quilt shops I visited in MI. It was truly off the beaten path......in a garage! Cornelia, the owner, was super sweet. It was so country! I loved it. She heard me coming up the gravel drive and met me at the door. There were two ladies there working on projects. I was there for about an hour chatting and shopping. Hmmmm...I have a garage......

The Shed

It was tiny, but it was perfect!

Michigan Projects

I made 2 of the cherry squares and embroidered three more that need to be put together. The other pics are from a BOM that I had been behind on. I have one more block to make and I'll be done thru June.

Aunt Kath quilted my pinwheel quilt. OMG, I love it. She sent me this pic....I can't wait to see it for real! I just love the stippling pattern.

Wish you were here.....

Well, the weather is kinda crappy up here in South Heaven but who cares. I have my quilting toys with me and am just fine. Visited a few quilting stores. I took pics but left my camera cord back at the cottage. Maybe I'll get some up tomorrow. Both the shops I visited were extensions of the owners homes which was really cool. I was at Custom Quilts this morning and the owner, Mary, invited me back Friday to quilt with the girls. I may just do that. Well, the sun is peaking out...better get outside!

It's that time of year again!

I'm off to South Haven with the family today......except Chuck...he has to stay home and mind the cats...oh and work, too. I'll miss ya, baby!.....but I promise to phone every day! As I mentioned before, I'll be staying in the shed...pics later this weekend. Of course, I'll be bringing my laptop to keep you all on top of our every adventure. I'll have to hit the local coffee shops for an internet connection. Here's a few shots from last year.
